"Why crochet?"

"Creativity is more than being different.  Anybody can plan weird; that's easy.
What's hard is to be simple as Bach.
Making the simple, awesomely simple,
That's creativity.

~ Charles Mingus

Two months before our baby's first birthday, we started planning. It's our first born's first birthday; that special and we really wanted it to be big but within our budget.   We started listing everything we need.  Starting from food, utensils, tables and chairs, decorations and giveaways.  And yes, we did it.  Want to know the secret?  It's the power of DIYs.   We didn't need catering services, we rented tables, chairs and utensils instead. A paid good cook will do.  Decorations and souvenirs are all DIYs.  "Do It Yourself"s helped us a lot with this event and without hurting our pockets.

Why crochet?  I have many giveaway ideas but I wanted to have a unique one.  I didn't want to have the usual birthday giveaways.  I looked and searched the internet.  So many DIYs can be seen.  But when I saw these videos from YouTube, these tutorials and free patterns, I know I am able to do it in volume:  CROCHET.

I made one and presented to my husband.  He liked it and agreed with me.  We decided to make crochet owl keychains.  Thanks to HappyBerry Crochet for free pattern.  Watched their video in YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwqKTTJ2Pf4.  Because of this pattern, I've made 75 pieces of small owl and made it into keychains.  And that's it.  Cheap giveaways but still unique and loved by guests.

One of my friends suggested, "Look for more designs and sell it."  My husband and I talked about it and we decided to give it a try.  Well, so far I'm making different things (made to order).  I look for free patterns and try making at least one.  Orders are coming, just enough volume for me to finish on time.  It's still small but I am very much happy that I am having income and enjoying this at the same time.  I am trying to make stuffs with my own pattern.  And I am very positive that one day, I can be like these people who shares their patterns online.  I can be one of those creative people and blog my own patterns too.
